Day 1 - Tuesday, April 14: Depart Toronto for Athens

Evening departure from Toronto Pearson International with Air Canada flight to Athens. Dinner and light breakfast will be served. 

Day 2 - Wednesday, April 15: Athens

 Arrival in Athens and transfer to your hotel Acropolian Spirit Hotel where we will have superior rooms with a view of the Acropolis. https://www.acropolianspirithotel.com/accommodation/superior-deluxe  Early afternoon, we meet with our guide for lunch in a typical tavern followed by a sightseeing tour of Athens.  See top Athens attractions like; the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Constitution Square and the Panathenaic Stadium (sight of the first modern Olympic Games), drive to the Roman Temple of Olympian Zeus and learn about ancient Athens.  Explore the Acropolis of Athens and see the world-famous Parthenon temple a UNESCO site https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/404. We will of course visit the Acropolis museum – a must see, as it in the 10 top museums of the world.   Return to the hotel following the tour.  Check in and overnight. 

Day 3 - Thursday, April 16: Epidaurus

Breakfast at the hotel. Early departure to Epidaurus with a short stop at the Canal of Corinth.  Drive along the coastal road of the Saronic Gulf to Mycenae. Mycenae: ‘Rich in Gold’, the kingdom of mythical Agamemnon, first sung by Homer in his epics, is the most important and richest palatial center of the Late Bronze Age in Greece. Then through Argos on to Nauplia, first capital of Greece in 1829.  After your group lunch depart to Epidaurus. Visit the Sanctuary of Asklepios a UNESCO site  (https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/491) and the theatre of the ancient city which is quite well-preserved, in the shape it acquired during the latter years of its function.   Return to Athens following the tour.  No group dinner this evening.  Overnight in Athens  

Day 4 - Friday, April 17: Mykonos

Early breakfast before transferring to Piraeus for embarkation on a 3-day, all-inclusive cruise to the Greek islands and Turkey.  Departure at 11:30.  Mykonos (Greece)  Arrival at 18:00.  Departure at 23:00. Known as the Jetsetters island, Mykonos is a delightful island renowned for its lovely countryside, its beaches, its iconic windmills, sea breezes and of course night life. 

Day 5 - Saturday, April 18: Kusadasi and Patmos

Kusadasi (Turkey): Arrival at 07:30 / Departure at 13:00 The area has been a center of art and culture since some of the earliest recorded history and has been settled by many civilizations since being founded in 3000 BC.  Kusadasi is currently one of the finest resort towns on the Aegean coast.  A visit to Ephesus is included in today’s sightseeing.

Patmos (Greece):  Arrival at 17:45 / Departure at 21:30 Many believe John the Apostle wrote the Book of Revelations in a mountainside grotto here where he heard the voice of God. Further up the mountain, within the white walls of Hora, the monastery founded in his honor in 1088 stand sentinel above this verdant island. 

Day 6 - Sunday, April 19: Heraklion and Santorini

Heraklion: Arrival at 07:00/Departure at 12:00 Heraklion is an ancient Venetian port and the fascinating capital of Crete. Greece’s largest island is a paradise of secluded beaches, hiking trails, rivers and archaeological marvels. A tour to the Minoan Palace of Knossos is included in today’s sightseeing. 

Arrival in Santorini at 16:30. Transfer to your hotel - El Greco Resort and Spa and check followed by free time before dinner. https://elgreco.com.gr/  

Day 7 - Monday, April 20: Santorini Tour

Breakfast at the hotel followed by a tour of this iconic Greek island.  Highlights include a photo stop at the peak of Profitis Ilias Mountain and a walking tour of Megalochori, one of the most beautiful villages of the island with typical traditional Cycladic houses, neoclassical buildings and small cave houses blend together in harmony. Also included in today’s sightseeing will be a visit to Akrotiri  Excavation, one of the most important prehistoric settlements of Greece that was destroyed by a huge eruption during the 17th century BC which left it buried under the volcanic ash, perfectly preserved, a visit to Akrotiri Faros market and a wine tasting followed by a light lunch at Oenotourism Center where you will learn more about the distinctive wines of the island.  Return to the hotel following the sightseeing.  Balance of the day free.  No group dinner this evening. 

Day 8 - Tuesday, April 21: Santorini

Sail across Santorini’s beautiful ‘caldera’ (flooded crater) and visit the islands of Nea Kameni and Thirasia on this 6-hour cruise. Board a sightseeing boat from the old port and admire Santorini’s cliffs and as you cruise to Nea Kameni.  Our first destination will be the famous volcano of Santorini! After 20 minutes sailing, we will reach Nea Kameni’s jetty where you will disembark for a guided tour including a walk to the volcano’s ridge.  Back to the ship following the tour and continue to the island of Palea where the famous hot springs are a popular place due to its thermal waters.  The ship will remain here for 30 minutes allowing participants the opportunity to “test the waters” Please note that to reach Agios Nicholaos’ beach, you must be a strong swimmer.  Not a swimmer? No worries. Feel free to relax on board before dinner which will take place anchored near Thirasia Island providing a beautiful backdrop and wonderful photo ops but none as spectacular as your final stop, watching the setting sun under the violet sky close to the village of Oia.  Dinner on board.Overnight Santorini.   

Day 9 - Wednesday, April 22: To Athens and Delphi

A final free morning to take in the sights of Santorini on your own.  In the early afternoon we transfer to Santorini port for departure to Piraeus where you will transfer immediately to your hotel.  No group dinner this evening.  Overnight in Athens 

Day 10 - Thursday, April 23: Delphi

Departure after breakfast to the Pan-Hellenic sanctuary of Delphi, most famous as the home of the oracle of ancient Greece. Visit the archaeological site and the Museum where one can see among other archeological treasures the unique bronze statue of the Charioteer dedicated to Apollo by Polyzalos, the tyrant of Gela, in 478 B.C. when he won the chariot race at the Pythian Games. Lunch at a local restaurant before returning to Athens.  Tonight, will be our farewell dinner at a typical taverna in the Plaka district. 

Day 11 - Friday, April 24: Return flight to Toronto

After breakfast, coach transfer to Athens Airport and direct return flight to Toronto with Air Canada. Lunch and snack will be served before arriving in Toronto
