From Sandra Pauwels

I cannot believe it has been almost a year since the restrictions on travel were introduced as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic and they continue to evolve constantly around the world. I am heartened by the fact that vaccines are on their way and we can hopefully soon travel abroad again to learn about, and enjoy, familiar and/or exotic countries and cultures!

To facilitate our planning, Pauwels Travel has introduced a flexible tour registration process. Its purpose is to allow us to evaluate the level of interest in a tour without requiring participants to make any firm commitments for as long as possible. This system will work as follows:

If you would like to join a tour, please submit a registration without making any payment. This will allow us to know if we have sufficient interest to operate that program. As soon as this is the case, those who have registered will be contacted and asked to pay a deposit, the amount of which will depend on how close we are to departure date. Anyone registered at that time will have the option to pay the deposit or opt out without any penalty. Once the deposit is paid, the regular terms and conditions will be in effect.

I wish to emphasize that any tour deposits received by Pauwels Travel must legally be put into a trust account, to be used only for expenses directly related to that tour. When the crisis began, now almost one year ago, we had already paid substantial deposits for tours to be operated later in 2020, and we were therefore unable to offer full refunds for people who had made payments to participate on these tours. Since then, we have been able to avoid paying non-refundable deposits to suppliers for any tours we have planned for 2021. It is for this reason that we do not require firm commitments from you at this time. We will require tour applicants to make payments only whenever airlines, hotels, and other tour suppliers require us to pay non-refundable deposits, which is typically three months before the tour’s departure.

I hope that our flexible registration policy will encourage you to sign up for one of the tours we have planned for 2021 (and 2022). Like you, I look forward to the day when we will be able to travel again.

We certainly would include this tour among the best holiday trips that we have ever taken. The tour arrangements were great, including the hotel and meals and the well organized day-trips... We found Berlin to be a virtual walk-in encyclopedia of arts and architecture. We also found your daily 'briefings' on the history of Germany to be very helpful in filling in the gaps from our readings preparatory to the trip. JOHN, BERLIN IN DEPTH
