Coronavirus and Travel Plans

Dear Fellow Travel Enthusiast,

Since our last post, the pace of developments surrounding Covid-19 has changed tremendously. I am sure you are wondering what that has done to your travel plans for the Spring and Fall.  It will come as no surprise to hear that Pauwels Travel has officially cancelled all tours scheduled to depart before May 1st.  Although not officially cancelled, we realize it is unlikely any of our tours planned for May or June will operate as planned and we are in negotiations with the suppliers to whom we have paid deposits for refunds where possible or credits if necessary, allowing them to conserve cash they will need to help them weather this storm.

Knowing how fluid the situation is, we feel it is too soon to say how this crisis will affect our fall departures. We will plan for the best but prepare for the worst. With this in mind, we are relaxing our cancellation policy to keep penalties at the same level until notified otherwise. In other words, if your tour is currently at a penalty of 25%, which would be the cancellation penalty between 90 and 46 days prior to departure for one of our tours, we will keep it there as we move within the 45-day period.  Our flexibility will vary depending on the suppliers’ rules. For example, the cruise line for the Elbe cruise has its own terms which we must abide by.

We would also like to assure you that no further payments will be processed until we know the tours are operating as planned. Pauwels Travel will continue to monitor government guidelines and restrictions which could affect the status of our tours and we will share any changes with you as they happen.

Next month will mark the 55th anniversary for Pauwels Travel Bureau. We have lived through several crisis and always come out stronger. Our team will continue to commit all of our resources and energy to weathering this storm and being able to serve you by providing unique, artisanal travel experiences for many years to come. We look forward to welcoming you on a tour in the near future….perhaps even September.  Until then stay strong and stay healthy.

Thank you for your trust, patience and understanding.
